Noto Flower Festival – Sicily
While the Noto Flower Festival in Sicily is most famous, there are several places throughout Italy where you can enjoy a spectacular Infiorata event. The “infiorata”, or flower festivals, take place in May and June throughout Italy. They use flower petals to create breath-taking works of art, both in the streets and in abbeys.
In some places the Infiorata is a simple flower-petal design in front of churches. While the most elaborate infirorata create many different tapestries, each with a different picture and theme. Often a religious procession takes place on the flower carpets after they are completed. But where to see an Infiorata?
One of the most famous events is the Noto Flower Festival, usually during third Sunday of May. But the flower festivals in Genzano (Lazio), Spello (Umbria), Brugnato (Liguria) and Bolsena (Lazio) are also quite beautiful.
